National Speech & Language Pathology Day Celebrated at Shifa International Hospital

An Awareness Seminar was held at Shifa International Hospital to highlight the efforts & importance of Speech and Language Therapists. Chief Guest Dr. Nausheen Hamid, Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services while addressing the audience stressed the importance of treating swallowing & speech issues both in pediatrics & geriatrics.

Kashif Khan, AGM, Rehabilitation Department stated that therapists are an integral part of any rehabilitation setup. Dr. Nazia Mumtaz, President of the Pakistan Speech & Language Pathologist Association, Dr. Asad Hafeez, Chairman of the Executive Board of World Health Organization, Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam, Inspector General Motorway & Highway Police, & Mr. Abid Qayyum Sulehri, Executive Director of Sustainable Development Policy Institute also graced the occasion.

Mr. Taimoor Shah, Chief Operating Officer, SIH stated that Speech pathology is a very important discipline & the ability to communicate and connect is a key to our success & happiness. Dr. Manzoorul Haq Qazi, CEO, SIH was of the view that the day provides an opportunity to raise awareness about communication & swallowing disorders as well as the role of SLP in providing life-altering treatment.
